Job Title: Tax Compliance Specialist
Job Description:
As a Tax Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and leading tax audit and compliance engagements for corporate and personal clients. You will ensure clients meet their statutory obligations, identify tax risks, advise on compliance and tax planning, and liaise with Irish tax authorities as needed.
You will conduct comprehensive tax audits and compliance reviews for corporate and private clients across various sectors. This includes reviewing and validating tax returns (corporation tax, VAT, employment tax, personal income tax) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Irish tax law.
Your responsibilities will include identifying discrepancies, potential exposures or tax-related risks; recommending corrective actions or optimization measures. Additionally, you will prepare tax audit reports, documentation and supporting schedules; ensuring timely filing and compliance with statutory deadlines.
You will also liaise with tax authorities on behalf of clients where required – managing correspondence, audit inquiries, and compliance reviews. Furthermore, you will provide advisory support to clients on tax compliance strategy, tax planning opportunities, and implications of legislative changes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field – or equivalent relevant qualification.
* Professional qualification preferred (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CTA) or working toward such designation.
* Several years (typically 3–5+) of experience in tax compliance, auditing or public accounting – ideally in a professional services firm.
* Solid knowledge of Irish tax law, including corporation tax, VAT, employment tax, personal income tax, and compliance obligations.
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – ability to interact with clients, tax authorities, and internal teams.
* Proficiency with tax software, accounting/ERP systems and MS Office tools.
* Client-focused mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver high-quality service under deadlines.
