Overview
We are recruiting for a permanent, part-time position as a Support Worker at Tralee Residential Services. Annual increments are awarded up to the maximum point of the relevant pay scale. This is a Section 39 organisation and KPFA operates its own pay scales.
Responsibilities
* Empower individuals by planning and setting meaningful goals that address their personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training, and supported employment needs.
* Guide and support individuals to realise their aspirations, helping them reach identified priorities and achieve greater independence and self-sufficiency.
* Advocate for inclusion and active participation in the community, ensuring access to opportunities that promote social and personal growth.
* Work within a person-centred framework, prioritising each individual’s choices and needs; collaborate with internal and external services and build strong relationships with families to ensure holistic support.
* Maintain accurate records, complete relevant reports, and ensure documentation meets required standards.
* Provide physical, emotional, psychological, and healthcare support while promoting dignity, respect, and personal autonomy.
* Facilitate life skills development through hobbies, interests, and activities, teaching skills such as budgeting, cooking, communication, and time management to promote independence.
* Collaborate with a range of healthcare professionals to ensure care plans are responsive to evolving needs and support personal growth, wellbeing, and community belonging.
* Adhere to a dynamic and professional approach, demonstrating dedication and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Essential Criteria
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (equivalent qualifications will be considered) with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience working with adults with an intellectual disability.
* Applications considered from candidates who have completed at least 1 year of Nursing or Social Care degree.
* Passion for promoting and empowering those you support.
* Strong understanding of HIQA regulations, Disability Act 2005, Health & Safety legislation, and Data Protection/GDPR compliance.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with individuals, families, colleagues, managers, and senior team members.
* Ability to document and report accurately and professionally.
* Ability to plan, coordinate, and document daily activities and individualised care plans.
* Ability to maintain accurate digital records and complete reports in compliance with GDPR.
* Strong time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities.
* Understanding of rights-based and person-centred approaches to support and advocacy.
* Full driving licence with proven driving experience; willingness to drive Association vehicles. If using own vehicle for work, access to a roadworthy vehicle with valid business insurance or ability to obtain business-use insurance.
* Authorisation to work in Ireland; willing to provide supporting documentation during recruitment.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in a care delivery capacity, preferably within a disability service.
* Experience liaising with statutory and other voluntary agencies.
* Familiarity with basic IT skills for reporting, record keeping, and communication.
