CREGG are currently seeking a Financial Controller for our client who are a leading company in the manufacturing sector to join their team located at their offices in Co. Kilkenny. This is an initial 16-month maternity cover contract where you will get excellent experience working as part of a well-established finance team and for a leading company in their respective field. Reports to: General Manager 3 direct reports in Finance team. Location: North County Kilkenny commutable distance to Tipperary, Laois, Carlow, Waterford & surrounding area. Hybrid Working Arrangement: 5 days onsite every fortnight. You will be required to have a full office presence for the initial training period. Job Summary: Reporting to the General Manager, the Financial Controller plays a critical role in the financial management of the organization, overseeing and directing all aspects of financial operations. This position is a hands-on role where you will lead the finance department and be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, implementing effective internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the organisation's overall objectives. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Present financial information to senior management, offering insights and recommendations. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial goals. Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and scenario analysis. Monitor budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations. Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards. Cash Management: Manage and optimise the organization's cash flow to meet operational needs. Monitor and analyse banking activities, ensuring proper liquidity and risk management. Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis to support decision-making. Provide insights into cost management and profitability. Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective cross-functional communication. Qualifications and Skills: Qualified Accountant: ACCA, CPA or CIMA certification preferred. Previous experience in a FC or Senior Accountant role and leading a finance team is required. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues. Strong IT skills with proficiency in MS Office suite especially Excel and good experience using accounting software including Sage. Good commercial acumen, well organised and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
