About the post:
The objective of this role is to assist the Head of Department and teaching staff in delivering pediatric education efficiently and in a student-friendly manner. The role ensures smooth clinical placements for all RCSI students, addressing issues and maintaining quality and safety. Responsibilities include:
* Planning and organizing clinical and practical pediatric student placements
* Ensuring clinical sites are prepared in collaboration with consultants and educators
Job Responsibilities:
* Organizing timetabling and scheduling of pediatric teaching
* Liaising with academic staff, hospital consultants, and external lecturers to deliver curriculum components such as lectures, assessments, simulations, OSCEs, case presentations, and tutorials
* Coordinating with CHI @ Crumlin staff for venue arrangements
* Managing student attendance at learning and assessment activities
* Organizing research attachments and electives at CHI sites
* Administering Moodle for pediatric teaching materials and assessments
* Collaborating with SARA for student allocations and examinations
* Organizing and attending departmental meetings
* Managing departmental room bookings
* Coordinating simulation teaching logistics
* Participating in training and development programs
* Representing the department and university interests
* Performing additional duties as required
Knowledge & Experience (Essential):
* Strong organizational and administrative skills
* Ability to archive and maintain teaching materials and equipment
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Moodle is advantageous
* Effective communication skills suitable for diverse audiences
* Decision-making and deadline management abilities
* Self-initiative and teamwork skills
* Experience in academic administration is a plus
