1. Scope of the position
We are seeking a qualified Electrician to provide electrical and automation expertise to the Production and Engineering Departments. The role involves carrying out electrical repairs, preventive maintenance on blow moulding and injection moulding machines, ancillary equipment, and troubleshooting robotic cells to minimize production downtime.
2. Key Responsibilities
* Develop, commission, and support automation and control systems.
* Maintain, develop, troubleshoot, and validate systems in a compliant manner.
* Specify and select equipment controls hardware, including PLCs, HMIs, control hardware, robotics, industrial network hardware, pneumatic hardware, motors, inverters, power supplies, and safety hardware.
* Provide technical expertise and leadership in process and equipment development, including equipment/process control and monitoring. Support and program PLCs, motion control, and PC-controlled equipment.
* Build and develop contacts with external technical representatives, vendors, and agents to stay updated on technological developments and new product introductions in controls/electrical fields.
* Monitor and evaluate safety practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (CE compliance of equipment).
* Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and material handling systems for blow moulding machines.
* Support product, process, and equipment analysis and improvement projects.
* Work as part of a team to resolve issues and drive process improvements in design, layout, and operational performance.
* Train and mentor Apprentice Electricians to successful completion of their training programs.
4. Key Performance Indicators
* OEE and minimizing downtime resulting from electrical and robotic breakdowns.
* Safety – ensuring all electrical and robotic equipment are CE compliant.
5. Decision-making authority
Authority to delegate work, implement improvements, and make adjustments to machines as needed.
