The Project Cost Engineer will work with the Site Capital Lead, Project Managers, and Project Engineers across the site’s self-directed work teams and hub teams to support the delivery of operational and capital projects.
Primary Duties
The objectives of this role are as follows:
Develop a thorough understanding of the scope and schedule for project delivery within assigned areas
Take ownership of the capital cost file
Collate data from the project team to report on scope, schedule, and budget
Investigate variances between the budget plan and actual monthly spending with the project team, people leads, and budget owners
Raise project-related requisitions using Ariba
Process payments and provide first-touch approval of invoices through SAP
Own Scope of Works (SOWs) and purchase orders for capital projects
Collate and present data clearly and effectively
Prepare and present financial reporting by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends
Data analytics experience is an advantage
Report on monthly spending
Education and Experience Requirements
Level 8 degree in Business, Engineering, or another technical discipline
Demonstrable experience in effectively tracking and managing budgets
Project management experience is an advantage
Ability to analyse data and make recommendations
Experience working with cross-functional teams
Excellent report writing, standards documentation, and technical writing skills
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and job-related computer applications required
Experience with the generation, processing, and reporting of purchase orders in SAP is an advantage
