Job Title: Relief Chef / Weekend Chef Reports To: Head Chef / Service Manager Job Purpose: To support the kitchen team by preparing and serving high-quality meals during weekends and relief cover. The role ensures that all food is prepared to a high standard in compliance with HACCP regulations. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, cook, and present meals to the required standards. Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP regulations are followed at all times. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including equipment and storage areas. Monitor stock levels, rotate stock, and assist with ordering as required. Work collaboratively with the kitchen team and cleaning staff. Ensure portion control, waste minimisation, and cost-effective use of ingredients. Primary responsibility for running the kitchen when on duty To ensure that the nutritional needs of the residents are met Cover for the Head Chef or other team members when required. Requirements: Previous experience working as a Chef (ideally in a busy kitchen or catering environment). Knowledge and experience of HACCP and food safety standards (must have HACCP certification). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Flexibility to work weekends and provide relief cover as needed. Understanding of the issues related to working with the services users and a willingness/capacity to work with service users. Passion for food, creativity, and high standards of presentation. Desirable: Experience in catering for large groups. Previous experience of working in a social care environment. First Aid and/or Manual Handling training. Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen management. Skills: Strong organisational skills, Time management skills, Knowledge & experience of HACCP
