Simo Tech has a new opportunity for a highly skilled Lead Automation Engineer to support our client, a leading life science organisation in Dublin.
As Lead Automation Engineer will play a key role in a major Building Management System (BMS) upgrade project.
The successful candidate will take ownership of project management activities,, including planning, coordination, stakeholder communication, and the ability to lead project deliverables through the full lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5+ years' relevant experience and strong project management skills.
You will have experience in building automation systems as well as working within Gx P environments.
Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage timelines, and experience overseeing project execution are essential.
Key Responsibilities Lead project planning activities, including defining scope, timelines, resource needs, and deliverables for automation and BMS projects.
Manage project execution and stakeholder communication, ensuring alignment across engineering, quality, operations, and vendor teams while tracking progress against project milestones.
Oversee risk management and issue resolution, proactively identifying project risks, implementing mitigation plans, and ensuring projects remain on schedule and within scope.
Oversee the design and implementation of automation solutions for manufacturing processes and critical systems, ensuring they meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop control strategies and integrate new automation technologies into existing systems.
Oversee and ensure the installation, commissioning, and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of automated systems and equipment are in line with project scope.
Ensure all automation systems meet the necessary GMP, Gx P, and FDA regulatory standards.
Review and approve validation documentation, including test protocols, reports, and design specifications.
Ensure that all changes are documented according to change control processes and regulatory guidelines.
Adhere to data integrity principles and ensure automation systems are compliant with 21 CFR Part 11.
Liaise with vendors and third-party contractors during the design, installation, and support of automation systems.
Key Requirements5+ years of experience in automation engineering within the life sciences industry (pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices) with strong project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and manage automation or BMS project deliverables, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and within defined scope.
Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills with the proven ability to drive alignment and resolve issues.
Strong capability in project risk management, including identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and maintaining project documentation and progress tracking.
Strong understanding of GMP, Gx P, and FDA guidelines and their impact on automated systems.
Experience working with BMS and Automation systems with proficiency in PLC programming and SCADA systems.
Experience with Siemens Desigo BMS is an advantage.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex automation issues.
