We are currently recruiting a Setting Out Engineer for a permanent, full-time position on the Swords Cultural Quarter (SCQ) project in North County Dublin. This is a unique opportunity to work on a landmark public development that will redefine the cultural heart of Swords. You will be joining Duggan Brothers, a trusted name in Irish construction, with a strong track record in delivering high-profile civic and community infrastructure.
Project Overview:
The Swords Cultural Quarter is a flagship initiative led by Fingal County Council, aimed at establishing a vibrant civic and cultural hub in line with the Sustainable Swords Strategy. This transformative project will feature:
* A new County Library
* A 165-seat theatre
* An art gallery, arts spaces and makerspace
* Significant public realm upgrades to North Street, enhancing the connection between the new Cultural Centre and the historic Swords Castle
Designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey, the award-winning architects behind the Lyric Theatre in Belfast and the Glucksman Gallery in Cork, the SCQ represents a bold new vision for inclusive, modern urban space. This high-profile civic development will serve as a national example of design excellence, sustainability, and cultural investment.

Role and Responsibilities
As a Setting Out Engineer on the SCQ project, you will play a key role in delivering complex and detailed construction works on a high-spec civic building and surrounding public realm upgrades. Your responsibilities will include:
* Checking drawings, plans, and quantities to ensure accuracy
* Interpreting design documents and collaborating with consultants, architects, and engineers
* Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, planners, and quantity surveyors to coordinate works
* Attending regular site and client meetings to communicate progress
* Setting out, levelling, and surveying across various structural and public realm elements
* Organising and managing site logistics to maintain productivity and safety standards
* Resolving technical challenges and ensuring smooth workflow on-site
* Implementing quality control procedures and adhering to Health & Safety policies
* Preparing site reports and maintaining documentation
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar engineering role
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* High attention to detail with a proactive and independent working style
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Project and PowerPoint
