Associate Director- Accountancy & Finance
Overview:
An international organisation with a strong operational footprint across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and North America is seeking a
Financial Controller
to lead the day-to-day activities of its finance function.
Reporting to the Finance Director and working with the Head of Finance, this is a key leadership role with responsibility for financial control, reporting, and team management within a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the integrity of financial operations by overseeing all aspects of monthly reporting, compliance, and financial control.
The successful candidate will lead a large finance team, partner with senior business stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
Review and consolidate balance sheet reconciliations and P&L performance
Work with finance leadership on strategic projects and system upgrades
Analyse financial results, identify trends, and present insights to senior leadership
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and working capital initiatives
Lead and develop a team of finance professionals across AP, AR, and GL functions
Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and audit requirements
Implement and maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks
Drive improvements in systems, reporting tools, and finance processes
Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and Group Finance
Candidate Requirements:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with 5+ years PQE
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
Proven experience managing and mentoring a large finance team
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Advanced Excel capabilities and strong systems knowledge
Solid understanding of Irish and UK tax regulations
Comfortable operating in a deadline-driven, change-oriented environment
Ideal Candidate:

They are comfortable managing competing priorities, developing high-performing teams, and influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation.
A background in large or complex organisations will be beneficial.
