Position Summary
NeoDyne is recruiting a highly skilled HV Design Engineer to join our expanding Transmission & Distribution team. The role involves leading a small team (2–3 engineers) and producing substation and renewable electrical design packages. Experience using EPLAN design software is essential. The position is a full‑time staff role based at our Cork Office, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
* Review client or employer requirements and ensure design compliance.
* Produce specifications for electrical equipment and assemblies (transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, etc.).
* Report to the Senior Engineering Manager on projects.
* Provide guidance and training to junior and graduate engineers.
* HV Design responsibilities include:
o Control & protection wiring schematics.
o Protection schemes for IPP transformers and substations.
o Earthing designs to IEEE 80 and EN 50552.
o Static design studies including transformer sizing, load flow, reactive power, short‑circuit using ETAP software.
o Substation layouts to IEC 61936 for both AIS and GIS switchgear.
o Low‑voltage designs to IS10101.
o Lighting and general services designs.
o Interface with utility and third‑party consultants to resolve design review comments.
o Respond to site queries from install contractors and commissioners.
o Comply with NeoDyne's ISO9001 and internal design review procedures.
o Design project management from initiation to substation energisation.
Required Experience & Skills
* Level 8 degree in Electrical, Energy Engineering, or equivalent.
* 4–8 years of experience in a high‑voltage electrical design environment.
* Proficiency in driving and developing control & protection designs using EPLAN.
Desired Experience & Skills
* Experience with high‑voltage earthing design requirements.
* Experience developing electrical design studies.
* Experience with substation clearances and layouts.
* Experience in an ESB/Eirgrid substation environment.
