TrafficShift is a service within the Global Connectivity and Network Availability organization. Global Connectivity provides secure, highly available, low-cost, and performant connectivity worldwide for AWS, while Network Availability detects, alarms, correlates, and mitigates network impairments to ensure the AWS network's availability.
TrafficShift is a foundational networking service critical to AWS network availability engineering. It enables fast event mitigation and safe deployment of configuration updates and OS upgrades across the global Amazon network.
Our team, AWS Infrastructure Services, owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, including data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, supporting continuous customer access to cloud services.
As part of our diverse team of software and system engineers, you will collaborate across AWS to uphold the highest standards of safety, security, and availability, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages innovation and ownership.
Key job responsibilities
1. Design and develop software systems to automate Amazon's network.
2. Provide technical guidance and identify focus areas for the team.
3. Create and review software design documentation.
4. Ensure operational excellence of deployed software.
5. Contribute to documentation, process, and tool improvements for team performance.

Basic Qualifications
* Experience in professional software development.
* Experience designing or architecting systems (reliability, scaling, design patterns).
* Experience with networking, storage systems, operating systems, and systems engineering.
* Programming experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust).
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
* Experience in high-paced DevOps settings.
* Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals.
* Experience with Python (preferred), Ruby, or Java.
