Role Overview:
The Packaging Design Engineer will work as part of a team responsible for designing blister packs, cartons & tools for the pharmaceutical sector. The Blister Pack Design Engineer uses Solidworks to develop 3D models/drawings based on customer requirements, knowledge of blister machine specifications and consideration for end users.
Role involves support to tool design, sales, and customer service departments along with direct support to customers. Meticulous attention to detail used to ensure quality blister pack designs which meet customers expectations whilst satisfying tooling/production requirements.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
* Design of blister packs, tooling components and cartons using SolidWorks.
* Examine project brief and customer requirements to achieve optimum blister design
* Effectively liaise with customers in an appropriate fashion on matters such as technical design issues or queries.
* Interact and engage with other departments e.g. tool design, sales, production, quality as part of the design process
* Investigate and resolve quality related issues whilst considering counter measures
* Ensure all work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner
* Reverse engineer existing tools/blister packs in order to improve or replicate
* Successfully achieve productivity targets and surpass the teams’ objectives.
* Provide timely and accurate communication to both the team leader and company directors, as appropriate.
* Support other project teams by sharing best practice, skills, experience and previous learning’s.
* Background in Mechanical Engineering
* Strong problem solving, analytical & decision making skills
* Demonstrated technical learning aptitude
* Proven ability to work well as part of a team & on own with minimum supervision
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and standards
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
* Meticulous attention to detail & strong technical presentation skills
* Self-motivated and resourceful with Proven record of delivering against set goals
* Some commercial experience an advantage
* 1-2 years Solidworks experience essential
