Job Summary
:The Senior Director, Global Strategic Sourcing Medical Devices is a key leader within the Global Strategic Sourcing organization.
This role requires an inspiring leader experienced in building high-performance teams and scalable processes to support medical device manufacturing.
The successful candidate will develop and lead a team of sourcing experts to translate strategic initiatives into cost-effective solutions, with extensive experience in electromechanical medical devices, metals, plastics, electronics, and EMS manufacturing services.
The role provides strategic leadership for sourcing activities in the Medical Devices division, guiding procurement, supplier relationships, new product development, quality assurance, and supply chain management.
It involves managing domestic and international procurement, reporting to the Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, and overseeing multiple locations and suppliers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and monitor key sourcing metrics, including sole source reduction, supplier segmentation, and cost savings initiatives.
Lead competitive bidding processes such as RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs to reduce costs and improve cash flow.
Build second source programs and foster continuous improvement with suppliers through value engineering and operational initiatives.
Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to negotiate deals that create value.
Lead sourcing presentations and budget planning for executive reviews.
Manage spend with contract manufacturers, understand market cost drivers, and recommend supplier strategies.
Collaborate with Supplier Quality to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory policies.
Maintain sound supplier relationships, negotiate effectively, and analyze supplier performance metrics.
Manage new product development and business development programs related to device manufacturing.
Implement supplier-specific cost reduction programs and lead related projects.
Research markets, evaluate supplier capabilities, and assess sustainability for West's medical products.
Lead the global sourcing team to improve supplier risk management, data management, and innovation.
Recruit and develop high-performance teams and individuals.
Lead ad hoc analysis and projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
Extensive experience (12+ years) in medical devices, manufacturing, operations, or strategic sourcing in a regulated environment.
Proven leadership of high-performance teams in a global manufacturing setting.
Strong relationship-building, influencing, and communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Language skills, international experience, SAP knowledge, and lean methodologies.
Ability to see beyond immediate responsibilities, support Lean Sigma initiatives, and ensure safety and quality compliance.
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel expected.
Physical & Mental Requirements: Standard office environment; ability to stand, sit, walk, and perform typical office tasks.
