Legal Clerk – Galway
The Legal Aid Board is an independent, publicly funded organisation which provides family mediation, civil legal aid & advice and vulnerable witness related services.We are also responsible for the administration of a number of ad hoc criminal legal aid schemes.
Applications are invited for the position of Legal Clerk in
Galway
Following a competition, a Panel will be established from which temporary and permanent positions may be filled in the 12 months following the Panel's establishment.
This position is not open to persons on the Roll of Solicitors.
The salary for Legal Clerk ranges from €46,969 to €55,127 via 8 annual increments (which are subject to satisfactory service).
Two long service increments, payable after a further 3 and 6 years, bring the salary scale to €56,737 and €58,252.
The key features of the role are:
Provision of paralegal services to clients of the law centre under the supervision of a Solicitor/Managing Solicitor, having regard to any service delivery initiatives developed by the Board;
Proactive management of case files in accordance with Board's procedures, having full regard to the Board's Risk Management Strategy, and
Full engagement and utilisation of the Board's ICT case management systems to obtain the maximum benefits from these systems;
Full exploitation of the potential of the use of non-legal means to solve disputes;
Adherence to the Board's guidelines and procedures for the delivery of quality legal services.
Essential Entry Requirements:
Candidates must, on or before
Wednesday 12th November ****
have:
A legal qualification to at least Diploma level;
and
at least 2 years' experience in a legal office
