Job Description Principle Job Purpose To transport An Post mail product, on its distribution network, in a timely and professional manner whilst operating within current driving and working time legislation. Hours of Attendance The hours or attendance will be varied but will be 5 over a 7-day period. Whilst the normal weekly attendance schedule is 37.5 hours, in practice attendance times will be Network specific and will be flexible and variable to ensure they can meet the responsibilities of the role. Responsibilities The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following: Ensuring product conveyance in compliance with traffic conditions and weather conditions. To work safely whilst safeguarding Company property and mails product at all times. To complete relevant training and ensure CPC certification is kept up to date. Provide general assistance with indoor work as required, including loading of vehicles and scanning of parcels. Collecting and transporting mail in a van for a duration of the shift. Comply with all standard operating procedures including scanning/track and trace. Ensure that you have a valid Driving licence. HGV2 drivers are liable for the full range of duties on the MDN network. Undergo health screening programme in line with Company policy. Demonstrate An Post values and behaviours in your day-to-day work and address behaviour that supports/conflicts with them. Qualifications The successful candidate must: Have knowledge of the Mails & Parcels Network. Hold a current, clean C driving licence for HGV2 roles and a valid CPC card. An understanding of tachograph legislation, with an awareness of relevant transport directives, regulations and measures which regulate driving times. Demonstrate a level of professionalism at all times and able to work on your own initiative. Appointment There will be a six-month probationary period and process in place for those appointed to the above position. Should a successful applicant fail to achieve the standards expected at any stage during the probationary period, there will be early, effective intervention designed to enable them to reach and maintain acceptable standards of performance. However, should they fail to reach and maintain these standards following this intervention; they will revert to their previous grading/position and to the salary point they would have reached if they had continued in that grade provided the record of service during your period in the position now advertised was satisfactory from the point of view of conduct.
