Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for High-Speed Packaging Equipment
We seek an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge secondary packaging equipment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will drive innovation and excellence in machine design, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.
Main Responsibilities:
* Design and develop bespoke automation and secondary packaging systems
* Produce detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software)
* Own projects from concept through to completion, including design qualification, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing
* Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements, including GMP, CE, and industry-specific safety standards
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including controls, electrical, and project management
* Perform risk assessments, design for manufacturability, and tolerance stack-ups
* Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers
* Evaluate new technologies and design methodologies to improve machine performance and reliability
Requirements:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* 8+ years' experience in mechanical design, with at least 5 in automation or special purpose machinery
* Proven track record in designing complex, high-speed mechanisms and packaging equipment
* Expert-level proficiency with 3D CAD and product data management systems
* Strong understanding of pneumatics, servo systems, cams, and mechanical drives
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including GMP, CE, and machine safety standards
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with pharmaceutical or medical device automation
* Knowledge of serialization, vision systems, or robotic integration
* Understanding of design qualification, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing processes
