Project Worker, North Dublin Aftercare Support and Settlement
Location: Dublin based, Hybrid Working
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Aftercare Team providing support and settlement services to young people leaving care or who are in the process of settling into a new home.
What you will do:
* Work within the framework of the overall objectives and values of Focus Ireland.
* Undertake work with an agreed number of individuals in the community and provide appropriate supports.
* Implement the policies and procedures of the project, Focus Ireland, and the National Aftercare Policy (Tusla).
* Prepare young people for leaving care by developing an Aftercare Plan and implementing it jointly with the young person’s social worker.
* Prepare young people holistically, paying attention to practical, self-care needs, health, budgeting, domestic skills, as well as psychosocial needs.
* Ensure young people leaving care receive their full income entitlements, if applicable.
* Inform young people leaving care of available services.
* Maximize education, training, and employment outcomes for young people leaving care.
* Monitor the progress of young people who have left care.
* Make contact with local services and community groups relevant to the needs of the Young Person.
* Establish effective links between Focus Ireland and such groups.
* Develop resource materials on services in local areas with team support.
* Liaise regularly with the Manager about issues arising from work with individual cases.
* Participate in supervision sessions with the Manager.
* Keep accurate records and statistics, and provide reports as needed.
* Work closely with other Focus Ireland services and relevant Tusla Aftercare Managers.
* Participate in training, development courses, and project evaluation.
* Attend and contribute to meetings as required.
* Undertake other duties reasonably assigned in consultation with the Manager or Head of Services.
* Be vigilant about health, safety, and welfare risks and report concerns.
What you will need:
* Extensive relevant experience working with young people in care or marginalized young people.
* Third-level qualification in social care or related field.
* Experience of key-working clients or individual casework.
* Experience managing challenging behavior.
* Own car and full clean driver’s license are desirable but not essential.
* Good understanding of issues affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare.
