STEP INTO A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN THE OUTDOORS
At Ballyhass Adventure Group, we're not just creating adventures — we're shaping the next generation of outdoor leaders. As a Lead Instructor, you will be the driving force behind our on-the-ground activity delivery, ensuring every visitor enjoys a safe, high-quality, and memorable experience.
This role is perfect for experienced instructors ready to take the next step into leadership — guiding staff, uplifting participant experiences, and contributing to the ongoing development of our activity and training programmes. No two days look the same, and every day brings the chance to create unforgettable moments for our guests.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
As a Lead Instructor, you will play a central role in activity delivery, staff development, programme flow, and onsite leadership. You will:
Lead High-Quality Activity Sessions
Deliver and support activities to the highest Ballyhass standard, setting the benchmark for excellent practice, safety, and guest experience.
Motivate and Inspire
Bring energy to every group you work with — from school groups to corporate teams — creating positive, confidence-building experiences for all participants.
Coordinate Onsite Flow
Work closely with Duty Managers to keep sessions on schedule, ensure groups move smoothly across activities, and support a well-organised onsite environment.
Lead and Support Staff
Brief, debrief, and mentor instructors daily. Provide constructive session feedback and help newer staff grow into confident, capable instructors.
Head Up Our Intern Programme
Take responsibility for the development of entry-level instructors and interns. You'll guide their progression, run workshops, provide shadowing opportunities, and help shape the future talent of Ballyhass.
Deliver Staff Training
Lead activity training, safety refreshers, and skill-building workshops. You'll model excellent delivery and ensure training is consistent, engaging, and grounded in best practice.
Monitor Session Quality
Observe activities, identify areas for improvement, and work with management to continually raise the bar on safety, fun, and professionalism.
Contribute to the Business as a Whole
Take an active interest in how the centre functions — offering suggestions, supporting cross-departmental operations, and representing Ballyhass values in everything you do.
This role is suited to someone who thrives outdoors, loves coaching others, and is passionate about creating meaningful experiences through adventure.
