The Laboratory of Dr. Declan McKernan at the University of Galway is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate for a fully funded, 4-year position.
The Project: "Investigating the role of Danger Associated Molecular Patterns (DAMPs) in Schizophrenia"
Recent evidence suggests that the immune system plays a critical role in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. This project aims to explore how DAMPs—molecules released by damaged or stressed cells—contribute to neuroinflammation and altered brain function. This research sits at the cutting edge of neuroimmunology, offering the chance to contribute to our understanding of complex psychiatric disorders.
