Building Control Officer - Public Sector Job Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Control Officer to join our team in Coleraine. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, efficient Building Control Service to meet statutory duties under the Building Regulations (NI) and Energy Performance of Buildings legislation.
The Role: Delivering a high-quality, efficient Building Control Service to meet statutory duties under the Building Regulations (NI) and Energy Performance of Buildings legislation ensures buildings are safe, healthy, accessible, and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical and procedural advice to stakeholders on compliance with Building Regulations, including plan assessments, on-site inspections, and completion certification for domestic, commercial, and industrial developments.
* Assist in the organisation's duties under the Disability Discrimination Act through access audits of controlled premises and support for inclusive design.
* Investigate unauthorised works, dangerous structures, and non-compliance, supporting enforcement actions, evidence gathering, and court proceedings where necessary.
* Deliver statutory services including street naming, postal numbering, property certificates, dilapidation investigations, and emergency responses relating to building control matters.
Requirements:
* A degree, or equivalent qualification, in a construction related discipline such as Architecture, Building or Civil / Structural Engineering.
* A minimum of 2 years experience working within a building/construction role.
* Interpreting working drawings and specifications.
* Applying knowledge and understanding of current Building Regulations to determine the compliance of proposals and successfully enforcing and remedying breaches.
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
* A full current driving license.
