Lead the day-to-day management of EHS operations, ensuring compliance with legislation, fostering a proactive safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement to protect people, property, and the environmentReports ToEHS ManagerKey ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:Lead the day-to-day operations of the EHS department, including direct oversight in the absence of the EHS ManagerRegularly review and update risk assessments, safe operating procedures, work instructions, and the site’s safety statementMonitor and analyse incident reports and safety metrics; ensure daily performance statistics are compiled and presented to the operations teamOversee the prompt investigation and documentation of accidents, incidents, and near misses. Support managers in developing and implementing corrective actionsManage the internal audit program; conduct safety inspections, generate reports, and coordinate with department representatives to ensure timely close-out of findingsProactively identify opportunities for safety performance improvement and support the development of site-wide EHS initiatives in collaboration with the EHS ManagerSupport preparation and readiness for external regulatory and compliance auditsCoordinate safety-related training, ensuring all mandatory and ongoing training needs are met on schedule. Maintain and update the training matrixCreate and deliver EHS communications, including toolbox talks and safety alerts, to reinforce a strong safety culture across the siteManage site emergency preparedness programs, including fire safety, chemical safety, and workplace vehicle protocolsOversee contractor safety management in partnership with the engineering department; deliver contractor training, review documentation, and conduct audits of contractor activitiesSkills / Qualifications / ExperienceLevel 8 qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.1–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or high-risk environment desirableManual Handling Instructor certificationTrain the Trainer qualificationOccupational First Aid certificationStrong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain safety procedures across all levels of the organisationHigh attention to detail, with excellent administrative, reporting, and literacy skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and EHS-related software platformsSelf-motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a cross-functional teamProfessional confidence to engage with department managers and enforce compliance when necessaryNote: As with all positions, due to the dynamic nature of Arrow Group business, key responsibilities will evolve and change over time.
