Senior Technical Lead – Construction
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Lead to drive success in our construction projects. This individual will collaborate closely with the project/site management team and business leaders to ensure that all construction activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Analyze designs in detail for constructability and create schedules of issues for each phase of construction. Regularly review and update these lists during construction, in consultation with the Project Manager on site.
2. Guarantee that projects possess the necessary engineering and technical resources to fulfill all engineering responsibilities. Provide strategic guidance to any engineering staff reporting directly to you. Identify and address mentoring and training needs.
3. Foster collaboration between design teams and the construction team to ensure seamless communication and access to necessary information. Develop and maintain RFI (Request for Information) Schedules aligned with program requirements. Ensure prompt responses from responsible parties regarding design information.
4. Maintain thorough awareness of programs (design, procurement, lead-in, and construction).
5. Identify opportunities to enhance commercial viability through design optimization.
6. Assume responsibility for dimensional control, ensuring projects have the required primary control information, and provide necessary setting out for the Works. Implement robust checking systems to continuously monitor and validate setting out accuracy.
7. Work closely with site management to guarantee that all contractors adhere to safe working practices. Conduct thorough reviews of method statements before work begins, exercising special caution in high-risk operations.
8. Verify that all site engineers receive timely information, avoiding any impact on the program.
9. Develop and maintain NCR (nonconformance report) registers throughout construction. Hold responsible parties accountable and provide detailed weekly reports to the project management team and commercial team on progress/non-compliance.
10. Determine snagging procedures with the project manager before completion. Oversee snagging programs as assigned by the PM, holding subcontractors accountable and completing all snags by schedule to prevent delays in handover.
11. Compile schedules of lessons learned and share them with the Contracts/Project Manager at the end of the project and at relevant intervals during its execution. These schedules should be developed concurrently with project progress.
12. Offer assistance in finalizing all subcontractor accounts with which you are involved.
13. Provide expert guidance to engineers on setting out methods and techniques, emphasizing optimal usage and continuous improvement.
