The role of Speech and Language Therapist is a dynamic position within a multidisciplinary team that aims to provide a person-centered, evidence-based speech and language therapy service to young adults with intellectual disabilities.
As part of this role, the successful candidate will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary young adult team (YAT) to enhance the quality of life of individuals within the Young Adult Team service. The focus will be on providing Feeding, Eating, Drinking, and Swallowing (FEDS) management as well as supporting communication skills using various approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
* To provide a person-centered speech and language therapy service to young adults between the ages of 17.5 and 29.5 years across various day services in North Dublin
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary young adult team (YAT) to enhance the quality of life of individuals within the Young Adult Team service
* Provide supports for communication skills, including FEDS management
Required Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor of Science in Clinical Speech and Language Studies from the University of Dublin or equivalent qualification
* Professional Qualifications received outside the Republic of Ireland, including the U.K., must be validated by the Validation unit of CORU prior to commencement of employment
* Registered with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist
* Membership or eligibility for membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT)
* Minimum of three years satisfactory post-qualification experience
* Excellent communication skills
* Evidence of ability to achieve results through effective collaboration in a complex environment
