ROQ Commercial Contracting is a civil engineering and fencing contractor operating across Ireland, delivering high-quality civil works, earthworks, drainage, access roads, fencing packages, and associated infrastructure. We are a growing, dynamic company looking to strengthen our internal operations with a highly organised and dependable Bookkeeper / Office Manager.
Role Overview
This dual-role position combines responsibility for the company's bookkeeping and financial administration with day-to-day office management. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of the office, accurate financial reporting, and effective coordination between managers, suppliers, and clients.
This is an ideal position for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-moving construction environment and enjoys taking ownership of tasks.
Key Responsibilities :
Bookkeeping & Finance
* Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software.
* Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, receipts, credit notes, and reconcile supplier statements.
* Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
* Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
* Track project costs, supplier orders, and expenses.
* Collate payroll information for external payroll provider.
* Manage VAT returns and assist with other statutory filings.
* Support the accountant with year-end accounts and financial queries.
* Maintain finance folders, documentation, and filing systems.
Office Management
* Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring a well-organised and efficient environment.
* Manage incoming calls, emails, and correspondence, including the dedicated orders inbox.
* Coordinate document control, digital filing, OneDrive organisation, and staff access permissions.
* Maintain and update company policies, procedures, and health & safety documentation.
* Assist project managers with administrative tasks, procurement, and data entry.
* Schedule meetings, manage calendars, and coordinate staff travel/accommodation when required.
* Order office supplies, PPE, and site consumables.
* Support onboarding of new staff, including laptop setup, user accounts, and paperwork.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounts assistant, office manager, or similar role.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles.
* Proficiency with accounting software (specify your system if you want).
* Excellent IT skills — Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive.
* Strong organisational and time-management ability.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.
* Experience in the construction industry (desirable but not essential).
