Project Management Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic and motivated Project Manager to manage programs and work streams across various departments within an organization.
This contract position offers the opportunity to work on large construction projects and develop skills and experience in this area.
The ideal candidate will have a background in construction or engineering project management and a minimum of three years solid project management experience working on large capital construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing HEA projects through all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept development to full implementation.
* Overseeing the delivery of HEA-funded capital projects and programs in partnership with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
* Monitoring the performance of external service providers and delivery agencies to ensure quality outcomes.
* Ensuring project designs, tender documentation, and delivery align with agreed project requirements.
* Arranging and overseeing the appraisal of projects, including reviewing business cases, financial analyses, and economic appraisals for capital projects.
* Ensuring funded projects comply with national policies, planning frameworks, and procurement regulations.
* Overseeing and reporting on project and program expenditure.
* Preparing and presenting regular progress and expenditure reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Managing requisition, disbursement, and reporting of funding, including annual profiling and regular financial updates.
* Overseeing the development and implementation of internal and external systems, procedures, and guidance documentation.
* Contributing to the design and delivery of strategies and implementation programs that strengthen project outcomes.
* Managing and developing junior staff within the unit, providing mentorship and guidance.
* Collaborating with colleagues, senior management, and external partners to deliver on shared objectives.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience in project appraisal and design development, construction delivery stages of capital projects, with a good knowledge of current relevant guidelines, technical specifications, and sustainability.
* Strong report writing and data management skills together with an ability to produce high-quality analysis and reporting.
* Self-starter with strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, analytical, people management, negotiation, interpersonal, and presentational skills.
* IT proficient with excellent working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
* Knowledge and experience of relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines.
