Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and passionate Scrum Master to join our software engineering organisation. This is a backfill position for a mature Scrum team that values strong Agile leadership, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader who fosters team cohesion, supports product ownership excellence, and champions Agile best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Team Facilitation & Agile Leadership
* Serve as Scrum Master for one or more cross-functional Scrum teams.
* Facilitate all Scrum events with purpose and clarity, ensuring alignment with Agile principles.
* Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and psychological safety within the team.
* Actively remove impediments and shield the team from external disruptions.
Product Partnership & Enablement
* Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to strengthen backlog refinement, prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
* Provide coaching and support that enhances the team’s ability to deliver value
* Support the development of a clear product vision and roadmap
* Help create an environment where the PO and team can thrive together.
Metrics-Driven Improvement
* Define, track, and analyse key Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, throughput, cycle time, defect rates) to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
* Use data to facilitate evidence-based discussions and retrospectives that lead to actionable outcomes.
* Promote transparency through dashboards and reporting that inform stakeholders and empower the team.
Release Planning & Delivery Support
* Collaborate with the team and PO to plan and coordinate releases, ensuring readiness across dependencies and stakeholders.
* Support forecasting and capacity planning based on historical data and team input.
Agile Craftsmanship & Thought Leadership
* Stay current with Agile frameworks, industry trends, and emerging practices.
* Share insights and foster a learning culture through internal communities of practice or external engagement.
* Continuously assess and evolve team processes to improve flow, quality, and value delivery.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
* Certified Scrum Master (CSM) with at 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master
* Proven experience coaching Agile teams and collaborating with Product Owners.
* Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to use metrics to drive decisions.
* Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Experience with Agile tooling e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps) and reporting dashboards.
* Familiarity with techniques such as story-mapping and mind mapping to break work down and develop a shared understanding
