Power Systems Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Engineer to join our client, a leading project management and consultancy firm operating in multiple sectors including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemical, medical devices, waste treatment and food and beverage.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design high voltage (HV) topology, including sub-station design, air insulated switchgear, gas insulated switchgear, earthing requirements, lightning protection, overhead busbar sizing, breaker sizing, and HV cable sizing.
2. Demonstrate expertise in discussing the pros and cons of typical designs, such as fixed/withdraw switchgear, remote monitoring units, primary/secondary switchgear, and underground MV/HV routes.
3. Interact effectively with utility companies.
4. Create detailed designs for underground MV/HV routes, including draw pits and cable take-off containment.
5. Design transformer compounds, including secondary side design and creation of bill of quantities (BOQs).
6. Develop control room designs, including protection panel design, uninterruptible power supplies, remote control systems, and low-voltage feed panels.
7. Understand data centre power requirements and develop solutions.
8. Sizes gas plants, including gas generators.
9. Creates single-line designs for MV/HV systems.
10. Liaises with project managers to gather updates on new projects and scopes.
11. Creates basis of designs and estimates for new projects.
12. Completes electrical design work, including MV/HV topology, as required.
13. Resolves on-site faults related to transformers and switchgear.
14. Delivers designs within agreed budgets and schedules.
Key Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience as a power systems engineer, covering the duties listed above.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Holds a full Irish driving license.
* Proficient in software packages, including Dialux, Amtech, ETAP, ERACS, and CDEGS, with the ability to provide training to others.
* Fluent in English and eligible to work in Ireland.
