Support Worker Job Description
Muiriosa Foundation is seeking motivated and energetic support workers to join their Residential Services team. The role focuses on supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism in living a life of their choosing. Key responsibilities include leading initiatives, providing opportunities for new experiences, and assisting individuals in developing real and authentic relationships.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supporting individuals to develop valued social roles and experience in supporting individuals with communication needs and those who may display behaviours of concern. A relevant recognised Diploma in Social Care / Applied Social Studies in Social Care/Social Care Practice (minimum Level 7 on National Framework of Qualifications) which are CORU approved is required. Social Care candidates must be registered with or in the process of registering with CORU. Relevant QQI Level 5 qualification or willingness to undertake QQI Level 5 training is also necessary.
The successful candidate will be available for any day, weekend, waking night duty and sleep-over/overnight shifts. They must be willing to work alone in residents' homes and across various locations if required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Relevant recognised Diploma in Social Care / Applied Social Studies in Social Care/Social Care Practice (minimum Level 7 on National Framework of Qualifications)
* CORU approved
* QQI Level 5 qualification or willingness to undertake QQI Level 5 training
* Experience of supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism
* Experience of supporting individuals with a broad range of support needs including behaviours of concern
