Job Title: Small Engine Mechanic Location: Kells Job Type: Full-time Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of small engine equipment, including Quads, lawnmowers, chainsaws, strimmers, generators, and garden machinery.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both petrol and diesel engines and be committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs on small petrol and diesel engines.Conduct routine maintenance on lawn and garden equipment, power tools, and other small machinery.Disassemble and reassemble engines and mechanical components.Replace or repair worn or defective parts (e.g., spark plugs, carburettors, belts).
Maintain accurate records of repairs and service history.Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.Provide technical advice to customers regarding equipment use and maintenance.Keep the workshop clean, safe, and organised.Required Skills & Qualifications:Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or similar role.Solid understanding of two-stroke and four-stroke engines.Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment.Good manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and work ethic.Full, clean driving licence (preferred).
FETAC / QQI Level 5 or 6 in Motor Mechanics or equivalent (advantageous but not always required)Experience with brands such as Honda, Stihl, Briggs & Stratton, Husqvarna, etc.Knowledge of electrical components in small engines (e.g., ignition systems).
