MEDICAL GASES ENGINEER – CONTRACTS MANAGERCompany OverviewA specialist medical gases contractor delivering design, installation, maintenance, and compliance services for medical gas pipeline systems across acute healthcare, pharmaceutical, and educational environments nationwide.Role DescriptionThe Contracts Manager will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of multiple medical gas projects across nationwide sites. The role involves leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and in full compliance with statutory and client requirements.The position requires regular travel to live hospital, educational, pharmaceutical, and laboratory environments, working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, client representatives, consultants, and Authorised Persons.Key ResponsibilitiesContracts & Project DeliveryManage multiple live MGPS projects from mobilisation through to completion and handoverPlan and coordinate site activities to meet programme milestones and contractual obligationsOversee site teams, supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors across multiple locationsEnsure scope compliance in line with drawings, specifications, and internal proceduresSite Management & SupervisionProvide strong on-site leadership to maintain productivity, quality, and safety standardsCarry out regular site visits, inspections, and progress reviewsCoordinate shutdowns, isolations, phased works, and access arrangements in live environmentsChair or attend site meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetingsHealth, Safety & ComplianceEnsure all works comply with:Company Safety Management SystemProject-specific RAMSPermit-to-Work and Infection Control proceduresPromote and enforce a zero-tolerance safety cultureEnsure MGPS installations comply with HTM 02-01, HSE, BCGA, and client requirementsCommercial & Programme ControlMonitor programme progress and proactively manage risks and delaysCoordinate variations, change control, and additional worksSupport cost control, labour planning, and subcontractor performanceAssist with forecasting and reporting project status to senior managementQuality Assurance & HandoverEnsure installation quality meets company and client standardsOversee testing, commissioning support, and certification processesEnsure completion of:As-built recordsTest certificates and compliance documentationO&M manuals and asset data for client handoverClient & Stakeholder LiaisonAct as a key point of contact for:Hospital estates teams and Authorised PersonsConsultants and design teamsMain contractors and other tradesMaintain strong professional relationships while protecting contractual interestsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop site-based teams and supervisorsSupport performance management and skills developmentPromote company standards, culture, and best practice across all projectsEssential RequirementsTrade or engineering background (Mechanical / Building Services preferred)Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Site Manager in controlled environmentsStrong knowledge of MGPS systems and healthcare construction practicesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple sites and travelling workloadsExperience working in live hospital or operational facilitiesStrong leadership, organisational, and communication skillsFull clean Irish driving licenceDesirable RequirementsMedical Gases Authorised Person (MGPS) or Competent Person experienceExperience managing projects under public or private sector frameworksStrong commercial awareness and contract administration experienceFamiliarity with digital project management and reporting systemsPersonal AttributesHighly organised with strong prioritisation skillsCalm, professional, and decisive in critical environmentsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilityExcellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skillsSelf-motivated with a hands-on management approachWhat's on OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageCompany vehicle and full IT equipmentStructured training and professional developmentExposure to complex, high-profile national healthcare projectsLong-term career progression within a specialist technical contractor
