Overview Graduate Electrical Engineer (Transmission & Distribution) — Dublin, Cork or Galway, Ireland.
Start date from June 26 onwards.
This role is based in AECOM's Transmission and Distribution team with potential international projects and travel.
About our Team We address the complete spectrum of energy challenges, offering expertise in renewable energy (wind and solar), Battery Energy Storage Systems, hydropower, bioenergy, energy efficiency and carbon management, thermal power generation, nuclear power, and transmission and distribution.
The T&D Engineering team provides services from concept through Power Systems Analysis, Cabling, Substations, Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure, System Balancing and Compensation, Protection Systems, SCADA, Communications, Converter Station Design, HVDC Systems and Interconnectors.
Regular site visits to substations, cables and overhead lines are a feature of this role.
What you'll do The successful candidate will primarily work on transmission assets in the Republic of Ireland or the UK, with projects across Europe.
Some international travel may be required.
Regular site visits to construction sites for substations, cables and overhead lines are expected.
You will be paired with a senior team member and may be involved in activities including: Conceptual Design Power Network Design, Power System Analysis & Studies using Dig SILENT, PSCAD, PSS/E, etc.
Load & Demand Forecasting, System Stability Analysis Substation Site Selection Substation Design Ground Resistivity Measurement & Earthing System Design Lightning Protection System Design Overhead & Underground Cable System Design Interconnector Studies & Design Transformer & Switchgear Selection & Installation Options Selection & Evaluation Value Engineering HV Cable studies using CYMCAPWe encourage membership in industry bodies such as IET, IEI, and CIGRE.
Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what's possible? Here's what we're looking for: BSc/BEng in Electrical/Power Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above MSc/MEng in Electrical/Power Engineering is an advantage HV & Power related coursework or modules completed Experience with Auto CAD and Auto CAD 3 D is preferred Python or other scripting skills are advantageous Strong ability to structure and prioritise work in a team setting Ability to work in a team and independently with initiative Good numerical skills and strong communication skills (verbal and written)Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excellent research and report writing skills; strong attention to detail Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive Desirable: Full driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally (site travel with equipment may be required).
