Who we are:We are a third-generation lighting design and supply company, innovating and pushing the boundaries of lighting design. In 2022, we became the first Irish company to win the prestigious LIT International Lighting Design Award for our work at Carton House and more recently we won the LIT design award in 2 categories for Royal Hospital Kilmainham.Alongside our design and supply services, we have developed an experiential retail, co-creative and events space in Kilkenny. This space is designed to inspire and educate through light, foster collaboration with parallel design professionals, and drive meaningful conversations about the future of design.We work across commercial and residential lighting design projects, with creativity at the core of everything we do. We are a hands-on studio, regularly testing lighting effects and details in our darkroom to learn, experiment, and create new lighting experiences. Light is often misunderstood, yet it has a profound impact on both interior and exterior spaces. Our aim is to bring spaces to life through the intelligent and sensitive use of light.We are a small, hardworking team operating in a creative, supportive, and enjoyable working environment.The RoleThis is an entry-level / graduate position designed to provide hands-on experience across lighting design, pricing, and client-facing work. Due to the size and nature of our team, the successful candidate will gain meaningful responsibility and exposure quickly, with a clear pathway to developing into a Project Lighting Designer over time.The role sits centrally within our design and pricing team and also involves supporting our experiential studio space.Skills & Attributes RequiredWe value attitude above all else. Lighting design sits at the intersection of art and science, so a passion for design, strong attention to detail, and good organisational skills are key.EssentialEnthusiastic, positive attitude and strong desire to learnPassion for design and the built environmentGood attention to detail and organisational skillsStrong communication skillsAbility to work effectively as part of a teamProficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and WordBIM / Revit experienceGood Photoshop and 3D visualisation skillsDegree in architecture, interior architecture, product design, engineering, or a related disciplineDesirable (but not essential)Any exposure to lighting design software (e.g. Dialux)Previous customer-facing or retail experienceNo prior experience in lighting design is required as full training and mentoring will be provided.Key ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with Senior Lighting Designers on commercial and residential projects, with the aim of progressing to a Project Lighting Designer role over time.Typical tasks include:Production of AutoCAD drawings, image documents, concept presentations, sketches, specification documents and other materials to communicate design intentLighting modelling and calculations using DialuxTesting lighting details and effects through mock-ups in our darkroomAttending lighting consultations, workshops, and project meetingsAssisting with client and design team queriesPreparing quotations and lighting product design booksLiaising with suppliers regarding pricing, technical information, and special requirementsEnsuring accurate, clear, and timely responses to client queriesCommunicating with clients to support ongoing projectsCompleting order handovers with the operations teamExperiential Studio & Client InteractionOur studio space plays a key role in developing the communication skills required for successful lighting consulting. Time spent on the studio floor is considered an essential learning component of this role.Typical tasks include:Greeting customers and introducing them to the spaceAssisting with lighting and design queriesGuiding customers towards appropriate solutions and salesDeveloping confidence in explaining lighting concepts to a wide range of clientsDevelopment & ProgressionThis role is designed to support rapid professional development through:Hands-on project involvementDirect mentoring from senior team membersExposure to real-world design, pricing, and client engagementA clear pathway towards becoming a Project Lighting DesignerLocationThis is a full-time, studio-based role located in our design studio and experiential showroom in Kilkenny.Job Type: Full-timePay: €1.00-€2.00 per yearAbility to commute/relocate:Kilkenny, County Kilkenny: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Work Location: In person
