Job Overview
The role of Environmental Health & Safety Officer is a crucial position within our organization, requiring a highly experienced professional to lead EHS efforts on significant construction projects.
This individual will champion the company's EHS strategy by embedding robust systems, policies, and procedures across the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory regulations, industry standards, and internal governance frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Acting as a key advisor to project teams, management, and subcontractors on all health, safety, and environmental matters, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and promoting safe working practices.
2. Leading the delivery of site-specific safety training, including onboarding inductions for new employees and subcontractor personnel, and overseeing the preparation, review, and implementation of task-specific EHS documentation.
3. Conducting scheduled site audits and safety inspections, generating actionable reports and ensuring timely resolution of any findings, and managing incident reporting and investigations.
4. Driving proactive completion and documentation of safety interventions, promoting a preventative safety culture and maintaining and managing all EHS-related registers, records, and documentation.
Requirements:
* Third-level qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline is essential, along with minimum 6 years' experience in a senior EHS role, preferably with exposure to large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
* Demonstrable track record in managing EHS systems, audits, and regulatory compliance, coupled with strong working knowledge of relevant Irish EHS legislation and industry best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and problem-solving.
