What you can expect

As Lead Privacy Attorney, EMEA, you will serve as the lead privacy counsel for one of Zoom’s most critical regions. Customers in the EU and UK demand that we not only meet but exceed stringent privacy standards. Regulators here lead globally in shaping the future of privacy and AI. This role requires autonomy, credibility, and deep regional expertise to independently manage high-stakes customer engagements, regulatory inquiries, and complex product counseling.

About the Team

At Zoom, trust is at the core of everything we do. The Privacy Legal team protects one of Zoom’s most valuable assets: customer trust. We partner across the business, combining legal insight, technical fluency, and sound judgment to guide how Zoom handles data—responsibly and at scale. Our mission is to enable the business while making privacy a priority. We address customer privacy needs, advance regulatory compliance, and embed Privacy by Design into our products and services.

Responsibilities

* Collaborating with U.S. and global colleagues to integrate EMEA requirements into Zoom’s global privacy strategy, ensuring regional needs are fully represented
* Partnering with Sales and Account Teams to resolve privacy objections in multi-million-dollar deals, providing authoritative and timely legal support that enables revenue growth
* Leading legal responses to escalated customer inquiries, including drafting communications, engaging subject matter experts, and ensuring consistent, high-quality support
* Developing and maintaining public-facing privacy resources—such as FAQs, whitepapers, and playbooks—to promote transparency and support customer self-service
* Managing regulatory engagement by handling inquiries, complaints, and investigations from EU and UK authorities, while ensuring credible, timely, and aligned responses
* Serving as the local legal authority on GDPR, UK GDPR, AI regulations, and evolving frameworks, reducing enforcement and reputational risk through expert guidance
* Counseling cross-functional teams on Privacy by Design, infrastructure transparency, data residency, and other core trust-building initiatives — including AI and generative technologies
* Overseeing key compliance programs and assessments, including DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and contractual reviews, while supporting training, reseller programs, and global transparency initiatives

What we’re looking for

* Hold a JD or equivalent law degree and a license to practice law in the EU or UK, with relevant privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP, CIPT) strongly preferred
* Bring over 8 years of legal experience, including 5+ years focused on EU and UK data protection law within law firms and/or in-house legal teams
* Demonstrate deep knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, and AI-related regulations; maintain familiarity with global frameworks like CCPA
* Manage complex legal matters, including regulator engagement, escalated customer issues, and strategic product counseling
* Collaborate with engineering and product teams using strong technical fluency to align legal guidance with product development
* Apply sound business judgment to balance legal risk with strategic goals and enterprise priorities
* Lead independent work streams with minimal oversight in fast-paced, global environments
* Support cross-functional teams with a customer-centric, adaptable mindset; work effectively across regions in a fully remote setting
