The Opportunity This role is a permanent role which will sit in the Finance function.
We are also open to applications that may propose an alternative arrangement–- such as a fixed term secondment, flexible / part time or other arrangements - to suit the candidate's working arrangements and career development goals.

Our dedicated ESG reporting team sits within our finance department to facilitate compliance with mandatory regulations that impact us in our various jurisdictions.
These requirements include reporting to the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), adhering to the Task Force for Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and preparing for potential future disclosures.
Arup has made a commitment to be a science-based (SBTi) net zero organisation by ****.
We will achieve this by pursuing an ambitious 1.5oC aligned science-based target.
Our clients increasingly require net zero targets, ongoing reporting on reduction efforts, and external disclosures to enhance their supply chain's sustainability performance.
This presents an exciting opportunity for an individual to play a crucial role in supporting our team as we enhance Arup's social license to operate and communicate how we are progressing on our ESG journey.
The person who joins our team will collaborate closely with nearly all functions and geographic locations within the firm.
Our aim is not only to meet reporting requirements but also to help various Arup teams understand how ESG can affect them and how they can contribute to Arup's overall sustainability objectives.
Our primary stakeholders encompass regulators, clients, members, potential members, and various functions within the organisation seeking our guidance and support.
This role, working alongside the Group Head of ESG Reporting, will be pivotal in improving Arup's performance, reporting, and communication regarding global sustainability and emissions reduction efforts.
Key responsibilities: Assisting in the regular collation and review of ESG data from multiple sources including tracking of performance against targets.
Build effective relationships with key internal stakeholders across our regions and functions.
Analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data including financials, emissions, governance and strategic documents, nature related disclosures.
Assisting in the preparation data, papers, and reports for senior leadership, as well as other internal stakeholders.
Preparation of Arup's disclosures for: External certification or membership bodies –this includes UN Global Compact, CDP, Ecovadis, and ad-hoc market research and client surveys.
Compliance with relevant reporting frameworks.
This includes CSRD/ESRS, ISSB/ISRS, UK SRS, and Australia ASRS).
Responding to bid team information requests related to ESG and developing new content for bids where needed.
Ensuring Standard Operation Procedures and other documentation supporting ESG reporting/gathering activities are in place, following best practice and properly maintained.
Inputting to internal and external communications and helping to disseminate information.
Increase information relevance and quality with the aim of positively impacting the company message.
Inputting into projects aimed at improving ESG/GHG reporting and disclosure.
Manage horizon scanning to translate regulatory and framework requirements into clear reporting requirements.
Supporting the annual assurance process of ESG information where and as needed, including overseeing the collection of ESG data, methodologies, controls, and other information across business units and functions.
Supporting GHG methodology updates including rebaselining activities, emission factors updates, and other where and as needed.
Developing capability as an ESG Data Lake user to enable more efficient and consistent ESG metrics reporting.
Is this role right for you?
5+ years of experience in data analytics, ESG/GHG/financial reporting, ESG consultancy/advisory or related field.
Passion, drive and commitment to help communicate Arup's ESG message and progress.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with numerical capability.
Proficient in using Microsoft excel, SQL and other tools for data analysis.
Highly motivated, diligent, collaborative, personable and capable of working independently and exercising judgment.
Direct experience working with ESG ratings frameworks.
B.S. in the engineering/sustainability or BComm in accounting/business or equivalent professional qualifications (ACCA/CIMA) and/or experience.
Demonstrated experience in working with multiple stakeholders to successfully execute action plans.
Ability to influence at senior levels across the organisation.
Strong problem-solving skills with high levels of motivation, initiative and energy.
Strong project management skills.
