Housing Officer Role Summary
This role involves providing effective tenancy management, resolving housing issues, and fostering sustainable communities. As a key point of contact for tenants, you will ensure compliance with housing policies and regulations while promoting tenant engagement, wellbeing, and satisfaction.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of housing law and tenancy agreements, as well as experience working in a residential property orientated environment. They will be able to manage void properties, lettings, and allocations effectively, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring that properties are let and maintained efficiently.
The Housing Officer will also be responsible for dealing with requests for succession or changes to the tenancy, making full use of the services offered by the Residential Tenancies Board, and representing Fold Housing at mediation/Adjudication Hearings and other legal hearings.

Key Responsibilities:
Tenancy Management:
- Managing void properties, lettings, and allocations in an effective manner
- Ensuring compliance with housing policies and regulations
- Maintaining accurate records of all properties, tenancies, and incidents
Rent and Arrears Management:
- Advising tenants on rent assessments in line with the tenancy agreement
- Ensuring income returns and changes of circumstances are processed in a timely and effective manner
- Monitoring and controlling arrears in line with Fold Housing's rent and arrears policy
Tenant Participation and Engagement:
- Working with Tenant and Communities Engagement Officers to maximise tenant participation
- Representing Fold Housing at internal and external meetings
- Holding annual tenant meetings to ensure excellent communication and feedback
Organisation and Training:
- Maintaining all tenant files and data to ensure they are clear, accurate and complete
- Attending training appropriate to the role as Housing Officer
- Developing and implementing a plan to meet individual development and learning needs
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all activity is aligned to Fold Housing's core values
- Adhering to all Fold Housing policies and procedures
- Exercising discretion and high standards regarding own health and safety and that of Fold Housing obligations
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent)
- Professional qualification e.g. ICSH/CIH/IAVI
- Full Clean Driving licence
- Property Services Regulatory Authority Licence
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
- High level of IT/Digital proficiency
- Good organisational skills, with ability to be flexible and work on own initiative
- Financial appreciation and budget management skills
