We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of hydropower improvement projects across a portfolio of hydroelectric generating stations.
This role offers the opportunity to work on environmentally focused infrastructure projects that improve river connectivity, enhance fish passage, and support biodiversity and nature-positive initiatives.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic operations team responsible for delivering engineering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard across multiple sites nationwide.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Manage engineering projects from concept development through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Develop and manage project scopes, technical specifications, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
Deliver projects in line with agreed targets for safety, quality, cost, and performance.
Support tender preparation, technical evaluations, contractor selection, and contract award processes.
Oversee contractor management, including site inspections and supervision activities.
Review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and associated Health & Safety documentation prior to works commencing.
Maintain and contribute to project documentation, drawings, and document management systems.
Coordinate project delivery activities within hydropower stations and manage interfaces between contractors and operational staff.
Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards, legislation, and procedures.
Promote a strong safety culture across all project and contractor activities.
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
Demonstrated experience delivering engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of project management principles and project lifecycle delivery.
Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and industry best practice.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills.
Strong IT proficiency, including MS Office and project/engineering management systems.
Full driving licence.
Flexibility to travel nationally as required.
Experience in power generation, utilities, water, renewable energy, or other regulated industrial environments.
Familiarity with environmental or sustainability-focused infrastructure projects.
