Safety Officer - Tipperary
Our client, a well-established family-run construction company in Tipperary, is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to support ongoing projects across the region. This is a hands-on role within a close-knit team, offering the opportunity to shape and continuously improve safety standards across a variety of construction activities.
We are looking for someone who brings strong knowledge of the Irish construction industry, understands the realities of working on active sites, and can foster a positive safety culture through practical guidance and relationship-building. Experience and familiarity with construction machinery is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
* Implement, monitor, and continuously improve site safety policies and procedures in line with Irish construction regulations.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
* Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including Safety Statements, Method Statements, and RAMS.
* Provide toolbox talks, safety training, and daily briefings for site personnel.
* Investigate and report on incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying corrective actions.
* Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, training, and safety performance.
* Work closely with site management to ensure safe planning and execution of works.
* Support safe operation of construction machinery and equipment; advise on machinery-related risks (experience preferred but training can be provided).
* Liaise with external stakeholders including subcontractors, clients, and regulatory bodies where required.
* Promote a proactive safety culture across the workforce.
Requirements
* Essential: Proven experience as a Safety Officer within the Irish construction industry.
* Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and relevant regulations.
* Advantageous: Familiarity with construction machinery, plant operations, or equipment safety.
* Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, Level 6 H&S qualification, or equivalent).
* Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with site teams, management, and subcontractors.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Full, clean driving licence.
