Your key responsibilities
This role will place you at the heart of a high-energy, agile team that is committed to helping clients build long-term sustainable businesses.
You will work with leading organisations at a senior level to deliver better outcomes on some of the world's most pressing climate and sustainability issues, interacting with EY colleagues globally and across our different sectors and business activities.
Successful candidates will join the Climate Change and Sustainability Services team at EY.
Within Climate Change and Sustainability Services our focus areas are Climate Change and Decarbonisation, ESG and Sustainability, ESG assurance and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
There will be opportunities to work across the focus areas within the wider team.
Skills and attributes for success
We are looking for individuals who have a passion for helping clients to future-proof their businesses and make them more sustainable in an ever-changing world where doing business is increasingly shaped by social purpose, climate change, effective governance, innovation and the creation of long-term value.
To qualify for the role, you must have
7+ years' experience in external sustainability assurance/audit, ideally at Senior Manager level
Minimum of 4-5 years' experience in sustainability
Qualified Accountant – e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA(SA) qualified OR sustainability qualification
Proven experience in sustainability or non-financial assurance engagement
Strong understanding of CSRD, ESRS and related frameworks
Excellent leadership, project management and communication skills
Keen interest in helping clients to better understand, measure, quantify and articulate sustainability and the long-term value they create for investors and other stakeholders
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to network effectively within large organisations and build relationships with individuals and clients
Ability to contribute to new business development by highlighting potential opportunities for new engagements and responding to tenders
Ideally, you will also have
Ability to learn and quickly understand new concepts outside of your area of expertise
Ability to think strategically but also identify, develop and implement practical solutions
Strong technical, quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to apply them to solve new problems
A deep understanding of the links between climate change, business risk and value creation
Working and effectively communicating with team members with different technical backgrounds
Development of other team members by sharing knowledge and informal coaching
Prior consulting or industry experience (an advantage)
Relevant professional qualifications in sustainability, climate change, environmental science or related areas
