Position Summary
Jigsaw clinicians provide short‑term therapeutic support to young people aged 12‑25 years who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role involves 1:1 work with the youth and may include other family members. Clinicians work as part of transdisciplinary teams at one of our 15 services across the country, drawing on diverse professional backgrounds such as social work, occupational therapy, mental health nursing, clinical/counselling/educational psychology and psychotherapy. All clinicians share a common scope of practice, work collaboratively, respectfully and evidence‑informed, and contribute to health promotion, youth engagement, service development, and advocacy. They benefit from regular clinical supervision and a comprehensive programme of continuing professional development.
The role is full‑time, permanent and based in our Waterford service. It is a front‑facing position with daily interactions with young people and members of the public. Occasional home working is offered based on the needs of the service and the young people.
Primary Responsibilities

Conduct initial mental health assessments with young people, focusing on strengths and difficulties.
Provide evidence‑informed brief therapeutic interventions.
Perform risk assessments and implement risk management plans as appropriate.
Participate in clinical supervision and line management for support and guidance.
Work in accordance with Jigsaw policies, procedures and guidelines.
Attend case management meetings, team meetings and other meetings as deemed necessary.
Liaise and consult with other professionals to support the mental health of young people attending Jigsaw.
Fulfil obligations under the Children First Act 2015 and comply with the Jigsaw Child Protection and Welfare policy.
Maintain accurate, confidential records of practice using the Jigsaw Data System and cooperate with reporting requirements as per the Jigsaw Record Keeping Policy.
Comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 and 2018 (GDPR).
Share information with the Jigsaw Clinical Manager, Service Manager, Jigsaw team and other stakeholders, as appropriate, in accordance with good practice.
Contribute to research, audit and evaluation of the service as required.
Maintain professional and personal boundaries.
Engage in outreach work as required.
Demonstrate an open and flexible attitude to work at all times.
Be flexible regarding working hours in line with the needs of the service, including evenings.

Essential Criteria

Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology and/or Chartered Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist through PSI. Candidates qualified overseas must provide evidence of validation by the Department of Health at the time of application.
Mental Health Nurse registered with An Bord Altranais.
Social Worker registered with CORU.
Occupational Therapist registered with CORU.
Psychotherapist accredited by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

Desirable Criteria

Experience working in health and social care, therapeutic or related organisational settings supporting people with their mental health needs.
Experience working therapeutically with young people aged 12‑25 years.
Experience applying core clinical/therapeutic skills – assessment, formulation, risk management, intervention and evaluation in a mental health setting.
Experience or training in delivering evidence‑informed mental health interventions, e.g. solution‑focused therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, etc.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong time‑management skills and an ability to manage a busy workload.
Capacity to work co‑operatively as part of a team.
Competent in MS Office, Office 365, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; the salary range for this role will be €39,755–€61,458.
