Senior Proposal Manager – Ireland (Naas)
At WSP Ireland, we are seeking a strategic and motivated Senior Proposal Manager to join our Transport and Infrastructure team. This high‑impact position will play a key role in securing profitable business by managing our most important bid projects across Ireland. Reporting to the Civil, Roads and II Proposal Team Lead, you will lead and manage the pursuit process, collaborating across teams to deliver high‑quality, client‑focused proposals from the initial capture planning through the full bid lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex, high‑value strategic bids as bid manager or in senior support roles, depending on bid size and complexity.
Ensure that bid governance and review processes are followed.
Provide input to the strategic bid capture planning process.
Work with clients and the Opportunity Director to develop customised solutions that meet client needs and help achieve objectives.
Assume responsibility for opportunity qualification throughout the process.
Understand customer requirements and provide resource expertise, managing and leading strategic bids.
Challenge operational, technical, commercial, and financial proposals to facilitate development of solutions that deliver greatest benefit for the business while meeting customer requirements.
Collaborate with bid authors and solution architects to convert knowledge from operational and business development staff into winning solutions and proposals.
Support lessons learned from bids by analysing each bid, including customer feedback, and sharing best practice with relevant teams.
Train and coach colleagues on the bid process and associated skills.
Collate market and competitor information useful for future bids.
Role Accountabilities
Provide leadership to appointed bids, ensuring optimum quality/price solutions and clear communication of outputs and timelines.
Collaborate with Opportunity Directors, bid colleagues, operational managers, sector and commercial teams to develop tailored solutions for tender invitations.
Understand client needs and advise on quality and integration of the solution, setting the required standard.
Build relationships quickly to deliver efficient, effective work within newly created bid teams.
Convert knowledge from operational and business development staff into winning proposals.
Analyse each bid to identify and share good practice across the business; support cross‑cutting initiatives and bids to achieve corporate objectives.
Collate market and competitor information for future WSP propositions and bids.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree‑level qualification in an appropriate subject.
APMP Foundation certification or equivalent.
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, InDesign (desired), and graphics skills.
Previous experience in a similar role within engineering and construction.
Expertise producing tenders in the Roads and Civil markets in the Republic and Northern Ireland.
Demonstrable record of success as a senior bid manager.
Strong awareness of bid governance and review processes; expert bid writing and management skills.
Comprehensive understanding of public and private procurement processes in the UK/Ireland.
Excellent verbal and written communication, team‑player, collaborative.
Robust project management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong time‑management and prioritisation abilities.
Pro‑active initiative and responsibility for personal actions.
Capability to assimilate large volumes of information and manage associated workflows.
Strong relationship‑building with external clients and internal colleagues.
Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, motivate, and inspire others.
Passion for quality and continuous improvement with a focus on delivery.
Confidence to delegate at all levels where required.
Fluency in English, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
