Resident Engineers | Waterford Vickerstock Recruitment are working in confidence with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to support the appointment of a Senior Resident Engineer and a Resident Engineer on a significant infrastructure project based in Waterford City. These appointments are to support the delivery of a major civil infrastructure scheme and will suit engineers who enjoy a strong site presence, close collaboration with contractors and a hands-on role in ensuring quality and compliance throughout construction. Your new role as Senior Resident Engineer / Resident Engineer You will be based on site and work alongside the wider side team to ensure will act as the works are constructed in accordance with the contract documents, drawings, specifications and relevant standards. Key responsibilities will include: Day-to-day site supervision and inspection of civil engineering works. Ensuring construction activities comply with contract requirements, drawings and specifications. Monitoring quality, safety and environmental performance on site. Liaising closely with contractors, designers, client representatives and local authorities. Reviewing method statements, inspections and test plans. Maintaining accurate site records, reports and diaries. Measuring works and assisting with the administration of the contract. Identifying potential issues on site and working proactively with the project team to resolve them. For the Senior Resident Engineer role, you will also take a lead role on site, coordinating inspections, supporting junior staff and acting as the primary technical point of contact between site and the wider project team. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for these roles, you'll ideally demonstrate: A degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. Previous experience in a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer or site supervision role on civil or infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of construction practices, specifications and quality control procedures. Experience working under standard forms of contract. A strong understanding of health & safety requirements on live construction sites. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) would be advantageous, particularly for the Senior Resident Engineer position. What's in it for you?
