About the Role
A well‑established
Quantity Surveying consultancy
is seeking to appoint a
Quantity Surveyor
to join its professional team. The role offers exposure across the
full project lifecycle
, providing independent cost and commercial advice on a diverse portfolio of projects across the
public and private sectors
.

, supporting projects from early feasibility through procurement, construction, and final account.
Key Responsibilities
Pre‑Contract / Cost Advisory
* Prepare
Order of Cost Estimates
,
Cost Plans
, and
Elemental Cost Analyses
* Provide cost advice at feasibility, planning, and detailed design stages
* Lead and contribute to
value engineering
and cost optimisation exercises
* Prepare
Bills of Quantities
, pricing schedules, and tender documentation
* Manage the tender process, including:
* Tender analysis
* Clarifications
* Preparation of tender reports and recommendations
Post‑Contract / Cost Management
* Establish and manage
cost control and reporting systems
* Prepare and agree:
* Interim valuations
* Payment recommendations
* Cashflow forecasts
* Assess, manage, and agree
variations and change control
* Attend site progress meetings and client commercial meetings
* Prepare
monthly cost reports
, forecasts, and risk registers
* Negotiate and finalise
final accounts
Contract & Stakeholder Management
* Support contract administration under
Public Works Contracts (PWC)
and private forms of contract
* Liaise with:
* Clients and funders
* Project managers
* Design consultants
* Main contractors and specialist subcontractors
* Act as a trusted commercial and cost adviser
Experience & Background
Essential
* 3–7+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor (consultancy background)
* Strong experience in:
* Cost planning
* Tendering
* Post‑contract cost control
* Good knowledge of:
* Irish construction procurement routes
* Public Works Contracts (PWC)
* Strong commercial awareness and numerical capability
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Irish experience essential
Desirable
* Previous experience in a consultancy environment
* Sector experience in:
* Residential
* Commercial
* Education
* Healthcare
* Public‑sector projects
* Exposure to funder or employer's reporting
Qualifications
* Degree in
Quantity Surveying / Construction Economics
* SCSI / MRICS membership
(or actively working toward chartership)
* Safe Pass
Systems & Software
* Cost planning and measurement software (e.g. CostX / Cubit)
* Strong proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
* Familiarity with project programming software (MS Project or equivalent) an advantage
