Freight Operations Manager ***Location: Cork*** Salary: 50-60K neg DOE Our client is an Irish company that operates freight forwarding and scheduled logistics services to/from Ireland and UK.
Due to the growth of their Cork business, they are seeking to hire an experienced and motivated Freight Operations Manager.
Reporting to the General Manager for Cork, you will be responsible for managing day to day freight operations.
Essential Skills & Experience: Proven track record working in freight forwarding and road freight operations, with a focus on import & export activities.
Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory / team management role overseeing day to day freight operations.
Experience supervising and leading a freight operation team.
Deep-sea FCL / LCL and Airfreight experience, an advantage.
Strong customer service focused.
Proactive with the ability to actively collaboration with all stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent planning, organisational and time-management skills.
The Role Manage day-to-day freight operations, supervising and coordinating with logistics, customs clearance, and transport teams.
Lead and manage a team of operators, provide guidance, support, and training to ensure efficient workflow.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation e.g.
bills of lading, customs paperwork, invoices etc.
Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure smooth operations and excellent service delivery.
Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues/delays that may arise during transit.
Ensure compliance with all regulations and procedures, including road transport laws and safety regulations.
Analyse data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to optimize transport operations.
Work closely with the Head of Finance to review monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among team members.
Make informed decisions to optimize resources, minimize costs, and maximize efficiency in transport operations.
Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies in freight to maintain a competitive edge.
Work closely with sales team on current and new business for operations.
Manage internal/external relationships with internal teams including UK, European operations and Customs Clearance.
