Special Purpose Project Worker
Available on the Siul Le Project in Kilkenny for a 39‑hour role reporting to the Homeless Prevention Service Manager. The venue is Tar Isteach Housing, Ormonde House, Barrack St, Kilkenny.
Introduction to the Model
Siul Le simply means “walk with”. The Good Shepherd Centre (GSCK) and The Collective Sensory Group, with support from HSE Disability Services, are launching a 12‑month pilot focusing on people living with homelessness and/or disabilities. The service aims to improve participation in local communities, secure housing, and foster recovery and well‑being.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
* Work within the framework of GSCK policies and objectives.
* Assess and support service‑user preferences for community participation.
* Support users in accessing training, education and employment opportunities.
* Provide accompaniment and support to users during appointments with other services.
* Maintain up‑to‑date casework records, daily logs and written assessments.
* Collaborate with mental health and community teams and statutory agencies.
* Adhere to best‑practice standards and the Siul Le support worker model.
* Attend supervision sessions with the assigned supervisor.
* Participate in nominated training sessions.
* Coordinate care plans with the Siul Le support worker.
* Work a flexible roster over 5 days, including occasional evenings and weekends.
* Contribute to policy development and implementation.
* Provide on‑call support on a rostered basis.
* Plan, implement and evaluate daily activities.
* Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned by the Team Leader.
* Identify and report health, safety and welfare risks.
* Engage service users in defining and achieving housing and recovery goals.
* Use a strengths‑based approach to conduct needs assessments and facilitate skill development.
* Assist users to navigate local authority processes and secure tenancy sustainability.
* Promote user safety, health and wellbeing.
Essential Criteria
* 2‑year post‑qualification experience in a related field.
* Level 7 or above in social care.
* Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong problem‑solving abilities.
