Job Title:Audience Editor, Crime WorldFunction:PublishingDepartment:EditorialReporting to:Audience Editor Team Lead, Crime WorldRole PurposeThe Audience Editor is an integral part of, responsible for making sure our stories are delivered to the right audience, at the right time, on the right platform.The Audience Editor has multiple premium and free-to-access stories a day to distribute via the home page, newsletters, section pages, push notifications, and social media to ensure they reach the largest audience possible. They have excellent news judgment, a deep understanding of how online readers consume news and are adept at using data to inform your decisions.They also work collaboratively with the audience team, news editors, video and podcast teams and group editors.Role Responsibilities (Overview)Distribute our premium and free stories to reach the widest possible audienceCurate a compelling home page and editions that reflect the full breadth of stories on Manage and send newsletters, using open and click-through rates to constantly improve engagementOptimise stories for search enginesCreate engaging social media posts that drive readers to our storiesUse real-time and historical data to continuously optimise our readers' experienceKeep an eye on top stories to ensure they have the best headline and pictures and are presented in the best possible wayCurate section pages so that they engage our more niche audiencesExperience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)At least 1 year's editorial experience working in a digital media environment3rd level media/journalist qualification desirableExperience of digital publishing and distributionSkillsContent Management System–editing, page layoutData literate comfortable - Google Analytics, Chartbeat, dashboards and chartsExcellent working knowledge of social media and other digital toolsExcellent knowledge of libel lawSelf-starting, shows initiative, operate without supervision, motivatedFlexibility / willingness to adaptCopy editingComfortable working on digital deadlines in a 24/7 news cycle where speed an accuracy are crucialAbility to multi-task and work across different platforms and channelsExcellent news judgementStrong communication skillsResults OrientedCreative FlairPlanning & OrganisingDetail OrientedEffective CollaborationCustomer and Market FocusLearning AgilityDecisiveness
