Position: Human Resources Generalist
Reporting To: Group HR Manager
Job Summary: As a Human Resources Generalist, you will assist the IFG Group and in particular the HR department will provide comprehensive, hands-on HR support across a multi-site operation. The role supports operational leaders and employees across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring HR policies, processes, and practices are consistently applied while remaining responsive to the fast-paced, operationally critical nature of the Transport environment.
The IFG Group consists of Independent Express Cargo Ltd, The Pallet Network (Irl) Ltd, IFG Home Delivery Ltd, Langan Couriers Ltd and Landbridge Ltd.
Key Responsibilities:
General HR Operations
· Deliver end-to-end HR generalist support across the employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and exits).
· Act as a first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers.
· Support consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation across all sites.
Multi-Site HR Support
· Provide HR support across multiple depots, warehouses, and transport sites, including regular site visits.
· Build strong working relationships with site-based management teams.
· Ensure HR practices are aligned across locations while allowing for operational nuances.
Employee Relations
· Advise and support managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence management matters.
· Assist with investigations, hearings, and documentation in line with company policy and employment law.
· Promote positive employee relations and a fair, consistent approach to people management.
Recruitment & Onboarding
* Support recruitment activities including role scoping, advertising, screening, interviewing, and offers.
* Coordinate onboarding processes to ensure new starters are effectively inducted, including compliance and safety requirements relevant to transport and logistics operations.
Compliance & HR Administration
* Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems across all sites.
* Support compliance with employment legislation, industry regulations, and internal audit requirements.
* Assist with reporting on HR metrics such as turnover, absence, and recruitment activity.
Policy & Process Improvement
* Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
* Contribute to HR projects led by the Group HR Manager or HR Generalist Team Leader, such as engagement, wellbeing, or learning initiatives.

Skills & Experience
Essential
· Proven experience in a HR Generalist or similar HR advisory role.
· Experience supporting operational or blue-collar environments (transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or similar).
· Ability to manage a varied workload across multiple sites.
· Sound working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.
· High level of discretion and professionalism.
Desirable
* Experience in a multi-site or geographically dispersed organisation.
* Exposure to unionised or partially unionised environments.
* Experience working in fast-paced, operationally driven businesses.
Qualifications
Essential:
· Working knowledge of Human Resources principles gained through experience or
· Completed degree (or equivalent qualification) in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
Desirable:
· CIPD or equivalent professional HR qualification (or working towards).
