Legal Counsel – Marsh McLennan Ireland
We are seeking a permanent Legal Counsel to join our high‑performing Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs team in Ireland.
Role Overview
You will support the Mercer and Marsh businesses in Ireland, working closely with local and regional colleagues to provide a high‑quality and varied legal service. The role focuses on commercial contracting, disputes, project and regulatory work across financial services, insurance broking, outsourced administration, consulting and trusts. You will work on Irish business matters and have opportunities on European and global matters. You will be part of a supportive team of 15 lawyers in Ireland and report to the Chief Counsel, Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Draft and negotiate contracts and other legal documents with clients, vendors and third parties.
* Maintain a docket of active and potential disputes, guide investigations, set case strategy, negotiate settlements and supervise external counsel.
* Act as a strategic legal adviser on projects across the Irish business.
* Participate in development of new propositions and projects to respond to regulatory change.
* Provide advice on legal issues and regulatory matters, policy drafting.
* Support ongoing regulatory initiatives across the business.
* Assist with development of templates and self‑help tools for the Department and the business.
* Effectively prioritise work, manage time and communicate regularly with business colleagues.
* Escalate key issues for decision or information using appropriate judgement.
* Proactively develop yourself and stay educated on relevant laws and industry themes.
Qualifications & Experience
* Current practising certificate from Ireland or another common‑law jurisdiction.
* Minimum 3 + years PQE.
* Strong commercial contracts or disputes experience.
* Experience in Irish financial services, insurance and/or pension law & regulation is a bonus.
