Design Engineers – Electrical and Mechanical

12 month contract | Onsite, 5 days per week in Dublin
We are recruiting two Design Engineers—one Mechanical and one Electrical—to join a high-performing engineering team delivering large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects across EMEA.
These roles offer the opportunity to work on multi-million-euro data centre developments, collaborating with experienced engineers, consultants, construction teams, and sustainability stakeholders.
Role Overview
As part of the design engineering team, you will support the end-to-end design lifecycle of new-build data centres—from concept and detailed design through construction and site launch.
You'll manage external consultants, review technical submissions, and work closely with internal teams to ensure designs meet operational, safety, cost, and schedule requirements.
Electrical Design Engineer
– Based onsite supporting multiple construction projects, 5 days per week.
Mechanical Design Engineer
– Based fully onsite in Dublin, 5 days per week.
Office space, tools, computational resources, and engineering support are fully provided.
What You'll Do
Support design activities for critical infrastructure on new-build data centre projects across EMEA.
Manage and coordinate external design consultancy firms.
Review and approve technical and equipment submittals.
Define project scopes and support construction-phase activities.
Collaborate with internal teams to understand user and operational requirements.
Troubleshoot design-related issues and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Actions (CA).
Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate equipment.
Travel for site reviews, engineering evaluations, audits, and site launches.
Participate in knowledge-sharing and adoption of internal engineering standards.
Bring a positive mindset and propose creative, practical, out-of-the-box solutions.
Electrical Design Engineer – Additional Focus
Design and review electrical systems for mission-critical facilities.
Support power distribution, redundancy, and resilience strategies.
Ensure constructability and compliance with regional codes and standards.
Support commissioning activities and design handover.
Electrical – Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
Experience with data centre electrical systems or other mission-critical facilities.
Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations.
Experience with commissioning activities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Electrical – Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
Experience in data centres, power generation, oil & gas, or industrial facilities.
Contractor negotiation and design/build project experience.
Ability to carry design concepts from early development through deployment.
Strong experience reading and producing construction drawings and specifications.
Mechanical Design Engineer – Additional Focus
Design and review HVAC and mechanical systems for data centres.
Support cooling strategies, equipment selection, and thermal performance.
Apply constructability and operational considerations to design solutions.
Mechanical – Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or related field).
5+ years' experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building services.
Experience developing new mechanical design concepts through construction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to justify technical decisions through sound business case analysis.
Mechanical – Preferred Qualifications
Chartered Engineer and/or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience with mission-critical facilities (data centres, hospitals, pharma, semiconductor).
Knowledge of BIM and CFD modelling.
Experience managing consultants and fast-track design/build projects.
Familiarity with large-scale technical operations and applicable building codes.
